Rand Harbert, CLU, is Senior Vice President in California for State Farm Mutual Insurance Companies and President and CEO of State Farm General Insurance Company.
Rand joined State Farm as an agent in 1992. After five years of service to policyholders in Overland Park, Kan., Rand was appointed as an Agency Field Consultant in Kansas City in 1997. The following year, he was appointed as a Regional Administrative Assistant in the former Oklahoma-Kansas Region’s Executive Office. In 1999, Rand became an Agency Field Executive in Chicago.
Rand moved to an Administrative Assistant position in the Agency Executive Department in May 2001 and later that year, was named Vice President-Securities at Corporate Headquarters. In September 2003, Rand was selected as Vice President-Agency for the Texas Zone. He was named Agency Vice President in the Northeast Zone in April 2005 and appointed Senior Vice President California in May 2007. Rand was named President and CEO of the State Farm General Insurance Company in March of 2008.
A graduate of the University of Central Missouri, Rand earned an MBA from Webster University in 1988 and graduated from the General Management program at the Harvard Business School in 2001. He earned his CLU designation in 2002. Outside of State Farm, Rand serves as the Chairman of the Board of Teach for America – Los Angeles, and serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Central Missouri Foundation Board, the California Chamber of Commerce, and the California Business Roundtable, He is a past member of the Eureka College Board of Trustees in Eureka, Ill.
Rand and his wife Kelly have three children: Morgan, Ross and Scott.
