Foundation Mourns Tragic Loss of Friends in Poland

Michael Reagan and the Board and friends of the Reagan Legacy Foundation are deeply sorrowed to share the tragic news of the death of President Lech Kaczynski and First Lady Maria Kaczynska, and over 85 other political leaders from the Republic of Poland, who were killed yesterday in an airplane crash enroute to a commemoration of the Polish home army officers who were murdered by the Soviet Union at the onset of World War II.

This is a heartbreaking loss of so many friends of the Reagan Legacy Foundation, and friends of the United States and liberty.

We express our deepest condolences to the families of all who perished on this flight and to the people of Poland.  We remember most fondly our recent visits to Poland, our shared experiences with Polish leaders and citizens, our attendance in November at the annual celebration of Independence, and our visits in Warsaw and Lodz.

The Reagan Legacy Foundation will continue to work on projects for the benefit of the Polish people, and all Central and Eastern Europeans who seek and enjoy freedom, and on joint paths to honor the legacy of Ronald Reagan, who was a tremendous friend of the Poles.

We stand with the Polish nation at this terrible hour.
